LG&P is seeking a Prototype Developer to help transform ideas into retail-ready solutions. This hands-on role is central to our design and development process — building, testing, and refining prototypes that ensure concepts are functional, manufacturable, and reliable at retail. You’ll work closely with designers, engineers, and project managers to solve challenges, validate concepts, and bring creative ideas to life.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong ability to read and interpret engineering prints and the application of dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Travel as required / Perform duties when needed outside of regular working hours.
  • Work in both English and Metric units of measure
  • Ability to use Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Experience with various production / inspection methods.
  • Proficient use of common hand tools and stationary wood / metal working equipment unsupervised.
  • Working electrical knowledge and safety precautions required for instore displays.
  • Basic proficiency in CAD software is a plus
  • 3D Printing experience is a plus
  • Have knowledge of ADA and accessibility requirements is a plus.
  • Bi-lingual (english/spanish) communication is a plus.

KEY Responsibilities

  • Assess new concepts for manufacturability, cost effectiveness, ease of installation and reliability in store by collaborating with internal resources.
  • Identify material conflicts, over/under engineering prior to release of part drawings.
  • Use software to track, check, prioritize the requests of Prototyping.
  • Ability to accommodate changes in project priorities with short notice in order to support R&D efforts in the evaluation of new concepts and development of new products
  • Create & communicate recommendations for revisions to Prototypes.
  • Define and provide the appropriate set-up method, fixturing and tooling required improve quality and reduce costs during assembly.
  • Demonstrated ability in reading and interpreting engineering prints and the application of dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Help in the creation of testing procedures and supporting documentation.
  • Help in the creation of wire diagrams and schematics.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment which emphasizes continuous learning of new skills and cross training
  • Perform specific tests on displays (including electronics) as requested with corresponding documentation.
  • Assist with the validation of Key Performance Factors / fit, form and function during prototype reviews
  • Assist with the validation of ENG specs, i.e. dimensions, finish, color, hardware, BOM contents
  • Supervise and lead others working under your care on the project.
  • Perform minor equipment repairs.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders (such as Sales, PM’s, Engineers, Electronic, production & Installation teams, vendors, etc.)
  • Resolve issues & be a self starter.
  • Program electronic devices (training provided) to meet 3rd party guidelines & data collection requirements.
  • Ensure compliance to legal regulations (including OSHA) and company policies
  • Report to management on activities and issues
  • Maintain a safe, organized & clean area of work.
