Why Join Us?

At LG&P, we connect brands, retailers and people to drive retail experiences that breakthrough and create lasting impressions. We deliver end-to-end solutions in the retail arena through our products, process, and teams, because our clients and shoppers always hunger for fresh, smart, ingenious experiences that work seamlessly at any touchpoint and in their lives. Our work is fueled by strategically chosen technology, retail know-how, being shopper-centric and brand-inspired. We combine long-standing expertise with boldness that drives new technologies, ideas, and connections. In whatever we do, our work is Boldly Breaking Through.

About the Role

Our innovation function is a hands-on, client-facing capability that takes ideas from ambiguous concept through to working, installed reality for physical retail and built environments. It spans client problem definition, concept development, hands-on build, staged testing, and handover to production, alongside internal AI capability and technology partner relationships.

We are growing that function in North America, and this role heads innovation for the region. It is a hands-on innovation engineer role with genuine client presence, working directly with the Senior Director of Innovation on live client programs. You will own the build - turning a direction into working, demonstrable things that stand up in front of sophisticated clients and survive a real retail floor.

It suits someone self-motivated who enjoys open problems: you will have real influence over how the work is approached and how the capability grows in this region.

‍

Required Qualifications

What You Bring

•     Hands-on technical build capability across electronics, sensors, microcontrollers, 3D printing, fabrication, and basic firmware and scripting - with the ability to take a concept to a working thing yourself.

•     Fluency in physical retail or built-environment work: how fixtures, displays, and store environments get made, installed, and maintained.

•     A demonstrable track record of concept-to-deployment projects you can walk through in detail, from ambiguity to something that shipped or installed.

•     Comfort and credibility in front of sophisticated client teams - articulate and professional, even without selling or scoping the work yourself.

•     Experience on both sides of the client conversation: you have designed or engineered the work, and you have been in the room where it was shaped, sold, or specified - so you understand what a client is actually buying.

•     A self-motivated working style: comfortable in open territory, forming your own view on the problem and the best route through it.

Nice to Have

•     Practical fluency with AI tooling as part of your own working method.

•     Experience in sensing, spatial computing, XR,robotics, or interactive display work.

•     Exposure to spatial or kinetic display work.

•     An agency or client services background.

•     Experience building a capability from the ground up.

What You Don't Need

•     People management experience. This is a hands-on individual contributor role - the value is in what you build, not in the size of a team.

•     Deep specialism in any single technology. Breadth with genuine hands-on depth in two or three areas beats narrow expertise.

•     Ownership of commercials, pricing, or business development. That sits elsewhere, though commercial fluency is welcome.

•     Strategy or consulting polish. This is a highly hands-on, execution-driven role.

‍

KEY Responsibilities

What You'll Do

•     Take concepts from early direction to working prototypes yourself, using electronics, sensors, microcontrollers, 3D printing, fabrication, and basic firmware and scripting.

•     Design and build with an understanding of how fixtures, displays, and store environments are made, installed, and maintained- so what you build survives a real retail floor.

•     Own the prototype-to-deployment journey on your projects, from first concept through to something that ships or installs.

•     Bring insightful approaches to retail challenges - interpreting the client problem, not just executing against a spec.

•     Represent the innovation function credibly in front of sophisticated client teams, including in sessions without the Senior Director of Innovation present.

•     Lead problem identification and directional exploration to establish the brief, working closely with the client rather than waiting for a specification - then operate independently across time zones, documenting and communicating your work rigorously.

Working Setup

You will be equipped with current tooling for rapid product development, including 3Dprinting and proof-of-concept prototyping, alongside the usual laptop and phone.

Alongside your home base, you will have regular presence at client sites and studio locations, which typically doubles as a presentation and demonstration area -so you should be comfortable with your work being seen and discussed by the client at short notice.

The role is home-first, so we are flexible on the exact city, but the region is not open. You should be based on the US West Coast, close to a major airport, and able to reach the San Francisco Bay Area easily within a day. Candidates across California, including Southern California, work well.
